What is Visual Binary?

Visual Binary is type of a Binary Star.

Visual Binaries A double star is any two stars seen opposite each other, the most prominent being Mizar and Alcor in the Big Dipper. But odds are that a double star is probably a pair of stars in the foreground and background that only looks close to each other. These pairs may have been associated with the telescope creation. Herschel, in 1780, measured the separation and orientation of over 700 double stars and observed that over 2 decades of observation, only about 50 pairs changed orientation.
